Kihihi airstrip is the closest domestic airstrip near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Guests fly to Kihihi airstrip using a domestic flight operator, and this flight takes about 2 hrs from Entebbe international airport.
Visiting Bwindi using air transport is the best way for everyone who enjoys short journeys that lasts 1 hour and 20 mins. This is appropriate for those who can’t handle the 8-9 hours drive from Entebbe or Kampala.
Kihihi airstrip connects you to Bwindi, through the northern Buhoma section. This is in about 40 mins drive to the park headquarters. Kihihi airstrip also serves as the connecting point to the southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Aerolink Uganda operates two daily flights from Entebbe international airport to Kihihi airstrip.
Flight schedules to Kihihi Airstrip
The morning flight departs Entebbe at 7:30 am and arrives at 9:10 am while the afternoon flight departs at 12:30 pm and arrives at Kihihi at 1:50 pm.
From Bwindi, the morning flight departs Kihihi at 9:30 am, arriving in Entebbe at 10:50 am. The afternoon flight departs at 2:05 pm and lands in Entebbe at 3:25 pm.
If you are going to the southern part of Bwindi, there is one morning flight that departs Entebbe International Airport at 7:30 am, landing at Kisoro airfield at 9:45 am.
Connecting to other parks
It’s very possible to fly to Bwindi and connect to other nearby national parks. So, you can link to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park – which is popular for chimpanzee trekking safaris in Uganda.
Likewise, you can connect to Murchison Falls National Park where our tour guide will be waiting to transfer you to your lodge. From there you can take on game drive safaris and other activities within those parks.
Flying to the northern side of Queen Elizabeth National Park you will land at Kasese or Mweya airstrips. But if you are going to the southern Ishasha sector, which is popular for tree-climbing lions, then you will land in Kihihi airstrip.
You will land at Bugungu airstrip if you’re flying to the southern sector of Murchison Falls National Park, while Pakuba airstrip is for the northern sector known as Paraa. For Kidepo Valley National Park, you will land at the Lomej airstrip near Apoka Safari Lodge.
