8 Days Luxury Chimpanzee, Wildlife and Gorilla Safari Itinerary:-
Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport – Kampala (Travel time 1hr)
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide who will then take you to Serena Kampala Hotel-Executive room (High end) for an overnight and dinner. Meal plan Dinner
Day 2: Kampala – Kibale National Park (Travel time +4hr)
Leave Kampala after breakfast for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta to Kibale National Park, just below the Rwenzori mountains. Get on an afternoon guided Bigodi wetland walk in the crater lakes area of the park, for an outstanding cultural visit.
Meals and overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge (mid-range facility). A stunning location overlooking a dramatic crater lake and the fabled ‘Mountains of the Moon’. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking Kibale
In the morning you will have breakfast being transferred to Kibale park headquarters for a briefing before setting off to the forest in search for the chimpanzees. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small organisms, that makes it interesting.
The walk will reward you with other primates such as the grey-cheeked mangabeys, and colobus, and red-tailed monkeys. After chimpanzee trekking you will go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp, to see unique flora and fauna, in the afternoon.
Meals and overnight stay at Kyaninga Lodge (mid-range facility). Meal plan: breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Day 4: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth (Travel time 2hr)
Begin your morning with a visit to the Nyakasura falls (Amabeera Ga Nyinamwiru) in Fort Portal, thereafter drive to drive southwards into Queen Elizabeth National Park, with sightseeing and game viewing en-route.
After lunch, enjoy a two hour boat cruise along the famous Kazinga channel. This is a worthwhile opportunity to see hippos, buffaloes, kobs, elephants, and warthogs among others. This trip also enables visitor chance to see spectacular water bird species.
Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury facility). Meal plan breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Park – Ishasha Sector
Dawn game drive in Uganda’s best national park, where all the big game can be seen in abundance. The park is famous for elephants and kobs, but you can expect to see more rarer animals like the giant forest hog. There are over 638 recorded bird species in the park. You will later proceed to the southern Ishasha sector for yet another evening game drive in search for the tree-climbing lions.
Overnight stay and meals at Ishasha Wildness Camp (high-end facility). Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 6: Ishasha Queen – Bwindi (Travel time 4hr)
Get on an early morning guided bush walk for a closer interaction with nature. The mid-morning will be spent on a game drive, still searching for the tree-climbing lions. Thereafter, you will head to Bwindi. This journey takes about 2 hours but driving through interesting features, before arriving in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The afternoon is spent on a community tour to see the local communities living around the park.
Dinner and overnight stay at Trackers Gorilla Lodge (high-end lodge). Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 7: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking
Begin the day with breakfast as you get ready for your gorilla trekking experience, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the staff of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Ensure that you carry along with you a rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, and jungle boots among others.
The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy primates for a group you have been booked for.
Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare mountain gorillas – perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. There are about 650 mountain gorillas left in the whole world! The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but it’s well worth the effort.
Dinner and overnight stay at Trackers Gorilla Lodge (high-end lodge). Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 8: Fly from Bwindi to Entebbe Airport (Travel time 2hrs)
You have two flight options returning from Bwindi. You may choose to catch up a morning flight at 10:55 am arriving Entebbe at 11:55 am or an afternoon flight departing Bwindi at 14:05 pm arriving in Entebbe at 15:05 pm. Whatever you choose, our guide will be ready to transfer you to the airstrip, to catch up your return flight for your onward flight back home or to your next destination. Meal plan: breakfast & lunch.
