Gorilla Safari Lodge is an up market facility tucked away at the boundary line of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – home of the endangered mountain gorilla. It is the ideal base from which to trek the Nshongi group of gorillas, the biggest group ever habituated. The lodge offers accommodation in eight, en-suite spacious luxurious units with individual verandahs that allow excellent views towards the pristine tropical rainforest. All bathrooms have hot and cold running water and flush toilets.
The camp is composed of a main lodge which includes a restaurant, bar, lounge and campfire overlooking the tropical rainforest. As the name implies, you feel on top of the world from your first gaze across the landscape that simply takes your breath away.
Accommodation and Facilities
The Gorilla Safari Lodge comprises of 8 cottages with two of these being double-roomed family units for people traveling together.
The discreetly serviced and superbly appointed cottages have a wonderful setting to relax and unwind. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom, with hot and cold water, as well as solar lights and a cozy fireplace. The lodge is managed by the owners, so they put much focus on quality service, good food and comfort.
Getting to Gorilla Safari Lodge
Visitors planning or those who have booked to stay over at Gorilla Safari Lodge, can get to the lodge either by flight or by road.
By air, chartered flights from Entebbe to Kisoro airstrip are available, with a road transfer from the airstrip to the lodge.
By road, you can travel from Kampala, the capital of Uganda, crossing the Equator, through Mbarara to Kabale. Kampala to Kabale is approximately 427 km, that’s about 8 hours drive.
Once you reach Kabale, break off and drive past Muko to Nshongi where the lodge is located.
